Study Finds Scottish Population Living Dangerously

A study has found that almost all the people in Scotland are likely to be smokers, drinkers, remain physically inactive and overweight. Almost 6,500 people took part in the study, which established that nearly 97.5% of these people had lifestyles or habits that were very harmful for the health.

The results have also alarmed health experts and they feel people need to be more careful about their health. Researchers who undertook the study were also alarmed by the attitude of the people towards their health. They felt that the people need to more aware about their health and maintain a healthy life style.

The main reasons for such low awareness about health were poor education and low income levels. Most of the people were having multiple risk factors and almost 50% of the people had three or more risk factors.

Some health experts felt that the actual condition will be much worse than what was revealed in the survey. Health experts argue that people who take part in these surveys tend to give better answers. This makes them feel better and to be perceived better by the researchers.

An expert from the British Heart Foundation expressed serious concern with the health study and declared that the results were highly worrisome in nature.

It is claimed that similar health trends have been noticed in people living in England and the rest of United Kingdom.
