New Group Formed to Combat HIV/AIDS

Most of the organizations which are working to fight HIV and AIDS and are working with the people have decided to form a new national group. It will be called the National Collective of People Living with HIV and AIDS.

The group has already received the support of various organizations who are working in eradicating HIV and AIDS and creating awareness about these diseases.

It has also been welcomed by The Maori Indigenous and South Pacific HIV/AIDS Foundation Trust who felt that the new group will make it easier to disseminate correct information about HIV and AIDS.

The foundation's Executive Director stressed that there were still a lot of wrong assumptions in Maori population about the disease and these misunderstandings need to be addressed.

He argued that some of the Maori population feels that they can get HIV and AIDS by sharing cups and by hugging someone with this disease. He felt that lack of awareness is mainly responsible for these false perceptions.
