Weston Says, Ecstasy and Crystal Meth are Toxic and Addictive

An individual may be charged with a criminal offence if he or she was found with ingredients used to create crystal meth and ecstasy.

These changes to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act were approved in the House of Commons this week.

Vancouver Conservative, MP John Weston said, "Canadians from all four political parties this week rallied behind a bill that will protect our youth and make our people healthier". He introduced a private member's bill to amend the act.

The bill will become law after it gets Senate approval. The bill has attacked the problem at its root and has tried to deal directly with the precursor of the drugs, shared Weston, who insisted that ecstasy and crystal meth are highly toxic as well as addictive.

Over-the-counter drugs sold at pharmacies can help in production of Crystal meth, which include components such as ephedrine or pseudoephedrine. These elements can be easily found in cold and cough medicines. The ephedrine is cooked into crystal meth by making use of chemicals such as ammonia or lye.

Hydrogen peroxide is used to produce Ecstasy, but through a highly difficult scientific process. Vancouver police Const. Lindsey Houghton shared that these drugs are dangerous substances that ruin lives.
