Following the counseling for the Common Entrance Test for students of sports and the disabled quota, counseling for the medical and dental seats commenced on Thursday, in Karnataka.

The process initiated at 6.15 p. m. and by the finishing time only half of the students, who were scheduled for the day's counseling, got placed.

After the filling of the seats with students securing less that 612 rank in all the Government medical colleges, only the private medical college seats were left.

It was informed by the Karnataka Examination Authority officials that the counseling was concluded around 10 pm.

By the end of the counseling, it was concluded that not many students were interested in making their career as doctors. This was evident as the first and the second rank holders in the medical stream of entrance did not attend the counseling.

Both the toppers said that they would prefer opting for engineering seat, instead.

Akshay B. Pattabhi and Sunil N said that they were not interested in a career in medicine and so they decided to quit the counseling.

Therefore, the first medical seat was then given to Shivaraj Patil and he selected a seat in KIMS, Hubli.

The counseling process got delayed even this year, and a senior KEA officer said that the delay was a result of inaugural program.
