Reports claim that the Government has been widely criticized, following its decision to withdraw plans for more stringent regulations of the letting industry.
The previous labor administration had introduced landlords register and new regulation of letting agents, and the same was widely appreciated.
In the wake of scrapping the previously devised plans, the Government has received harsh criticism for the same.
Condemning the decision, the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) said that the withdrawal of the plans would support rogue landlords.
Also, the Citizen's Advice has strongly condemned the decision.
Not paying heed to the criticism, the Housing Minister, Grant Shapps said that there was already a well defined framework in place in the industry. He also added that the focus of the Government was on increasing home ownership.
Mr. Shapps told the Parliament, "With the vast majority of England's three million private tenants happy with the service they receive, I am satisfied that the current system strikes the right balance between the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords".
According to him, the plan of the Labor party would spread corruption and red tapism.
Disapproving with the decision, the body that represents letting agents, ARLA, raised questions on the decision of the Government.
