Virgin Media has verified plans to cut the charges of Sky's premium sport and films channels for cable television subscribers.
Starting from July 1, new and present Virgin Media consumers taking the M+, L or XL TV packs can add or have a single Sky Sports channel (Sky Sports 1 or 2) or Sky Movies channel (Sky Movies 1 or 2) for £13.50 a month, proffering a discount of up to £9.
Virgin Media will provide the complete Sky Sports Collection, Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4, to its consumers for £20.50 per month, signifying a cutback of £42 a year on existing costs.
The cable operator is also proffering the Sky Movies Collection, Sky Movies 1 and 2, in addition to Sky Movies Premiere, Sky Movies Premiere +1, Sky Movies Showcase and Disney Cinemagic, for £19.50, offering a yearly saving of up to £84.
The merged Sky Sports and Sky Movies Collection will be accessible in one pack for £27.50 per month, presenting a saving of up to £72 per year.
The new pricing agreement comes some important improvements in Virgin Media's association with Sky, beginning with the launch of Ofcom's new wholesale must proffer model.
A package of both channels, that majority of the service suppliers wish to offer, was slashed by 10.5% from £19.15 to £17.14.
