South Korean Rocket Blasts after Two Minutes Travel

In an attempt to set a payload in the earth's orbit, a South Korean Space Rocket, which was transporting the scientific satellite, blasted after travelling for two minutes in the space. This crash has invited troubles for the already struggling space program of South Korea.

The mission had been postponed for a day, as the equipments encountered some technical problems. The team had been expecting a lot from this launch after the failure of its previous attempt of placing a satellite in the orbit, last year.

The previous launch failed mainly due to the error in the stage-split mechanism.

Science Minister, Ahn Byong-man explained that the mission lost its link with the rocket, as it travelled for 137 seconds in the space.

"Looking from the bright flash seen on the camera mounted on the tip of the rocket, it appears the Naro exploded in flight during the first-stage ignition", Ahn said.

The space program of the country had been aiming to develop an indigenous project, which could ultimately confront long aimed programs its neighboring opponents like China, Japan and India. It had helped Russia in creating the Naro-1.
