According to a recent report, the parents of autistic children have made some startling revelations. The parents said that their children have got mental health problem due to lack of assistance from the Government.
The National Autistic Society (NAS) has disclosed that certain health problems could have been averted in 70% of children who have autism. In autism, the mental development of the patient is restricted throughout life.
The Society also reveals that in many cases the NHS did not take notice of the mental problems. NHS said that these were the side effects of autism, which cannot be avoided.
Chief Executive of NAS, Mark Lever, is of the view that NHS offers inadequate and sometimes detrimental treatment. He urged the new Government to take adequate steps to solve this problem.
Mr. Lever said that many children are finding it difficult to cope up as the system does not realize their needs. He disclosed that professionals and parents are urging for help for autistic children. He also highlighted that, there is need of NHS to be aware of the urgency of the problem.
The Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust revealed that they help a number of young autistic people who have emotional problems. However, they say that there organization is not meant for helping young autistic children.
