Violent protests against fatal police shootingThe death of Oscar Grant - resulting from a fatal shoot by a police officer - on the New Year's Day, has sparked angry street protests. The Wednesday rally had the protestors alleging "Oscar Grant: Murdered! The Whole Damn System is Guilty."

Late Wednesday, the protests took a violent turn - with the demonstrators ruining storefronts, setting fire to cars, and sparring with officers outfitted with riot gear and tear gas in downtown Oakland. The police arrested more than 100 protestors, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations had extra police deployed on Thursday.

The unarmed black man, Grant, 22, was shot in the back by one of the transit police officers on a busy platform. The gritty video clips posted on YuoTube and some news Web sites show police officers forcing Grant to the ground and holding him face-down - and officer Johannes Mehserle fatally shooting him.

The video clipping of the incident has been viewed more than 500,000 times KTVU-TV's Web site, over the past week. John Burris, the attorney for Grant's family has alleged that the officers used racial slight.

The officer guilty of the crime, who has not spoken publicly, has neither been arrested nor has he been charged with any wrongdoing. Initially placed on paid leave, the officer later resigned.

At the request of the Mayor, the Oakland Police Department has launched an investigation into the shooting incident. Tom Orloff, Alameda County District Attorney, whose office is also probing, said that within two weeks he would decide whether to file charges.

Destroying your own neighborhoods is completely retarded. And you wonder why you "Gets no respek" Hmmm...let me think.
Let the justice system work, if it breaks down, then protest. Even police departments hire jackasses that display extremely poor judgment.
This loss of life was tragic and unnecessary and we don't need any more; now pull your heads out of your collective asses people.
