The Examiner has reported that June 18 is the happiest day of 2010, on the basis of feel-good factors including ability to be outdoors, happy memories and social interaction.
According to British psychologist, Dr. Cliff Arnall, who runs happiness coaching clinics for health professionals and businesses, the formula for cheerfulness is: O+(NxS)+Cpm/T+He. In the formula O stands for outdoors, N for nature, S for times social interaction, cpm for childhood summer memories, T for temperature and He for holiday excitement.
Dr. Arnall advised people to be happier rather than being materialistic. He said that the society is becoming more money-oriented, with people wanting to keep up with the other people.
According to Dr. Arnall, on the basis of different cultural factors, the happiest day can vary from country to country and year to year."The third Friday in June came out with the highest rating due to peaking factors, such as warm summer evening’s outdoors, seeing friends more frequently, and excitement about holidays", he said.
The excitement of the sports fans has increased because of the World Cup and Wimbledon and the timing of the events significantly maintains the happiness score for June 18, 2010.
