For cheating and frauds, that had netted a 21 years old hacker a Porsche, £40,000 in cash and £30,000 in gold ingots, he was bashed up badly, yesterday. Two charges of fraud along with 50 more offences have been admitted by Alistair Peckover, and after pleading guilty, he is now serving 20 months.
Besides hacking various personal email accounts, Peckover had also marked the online betting websites, including the exploitation of BT, as well as, Google. He used to tenuously view and manage others computers by downloading or by writing down his own scripts.
Peckover was able to use 500 email accounts after Sussex Police said that he could use the accounts of users who have purchased goods through BT Openzone. The former eliminated the principle key words such as `sort code', `exp' or `Amazon' from a user's inbox. With this, he exploited a `fake mail' and began to correspond with the original sender.
Detective Constable Des Hamilton, of the Sussex Police Major Fraud Unit, said that he is like a self-taught neurotic hermit with bona fide computer skills, but had never ever introspected that this can pose dangerous effects on common people.
He added, "Peckover used his skills to systematically defraud legitimate online businesses and unsuspecting members of the public. He was caught time and again but seemed completely uncaring about others. We hope that this sentence will help him use his obvious talents for more honest activity".
