Edinburgh's leaders have cautioned that the city might have to cut the tramline scheme. The leaders have come to this decision after their failure to make a final bill for the biggest infrastructure project of the country.
Council officials have said that they require keeping apart a minimum additional amount of £55 million in order to cover the huge cost of the controversial scheme. Till last night, this scheme was priced at a maximum of £545m. But now, the councilors are estimating a cost of £ 600m to fulfill the project.
These officials have also admitted that it cannot be ensured whether they want more money or not.
"We are being asked for another £55m but we are not being told what we will get for that, where the trams will run to, or when they will start operating", said Steve Cardownie, said Edinburgh's Nationalist Deputy Leader.
The Scotland Government has approved the fund of £500m for this scheme; however, the Government last night announced that it won't give any more contribution to the project.
SNP has said that its councilors have been asked to sign on a blank cheque. Though SNP is in the Government, yet, it does not back the tram project.
Labor councilors have said that the project is very significant; however, the management of the project is not proper.
