A report compiled by external auditors has uncovered that there have been numerous cases of animals that are still uncovered at the Calgary Zoo being wounded or killed accidently, due to the incompetent staff members or the inappropriately designed exhibits.
The report was compiled by the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the U. S. Association of Zoos and Aquariums, on Thursday.
The past few years have witnessed the death of many animals at the Calgary Zoo, which included a baby elephant, a hippo, a wild goat, four gorillas and 41 stingrays thereby, highlighting the huge media involvement.
In addition, the audit conducted assisted in unveiling many other incidents where zookeeper committed a mistake or exhibited design error resulted in animal deaths, according to the lengthy final report.
"The number of deaths due to human error is significantly higher than at other similar institutions", the report said.
Also, the report accompanied a 36-point action plan issues in a view to support the findings.
The official from Calgary Zoo posted that both species of bats are being taken away from the zoo, as are the feather-tailed gliders. Also, four of the six African wild dogs have been shifted to some another zoo and the remaining are scheduled to be relocated soon.
