GW Pharma's Cannabis Drug to Cost 11 Pounds a Day

According to a recent report, Sativex medicine, derived from cannabis would be priced as much as 11 Pounds per day, when it will be used as a treatment for Multiple Sclerosis. The drug is composed of two cannabinoids, which are obtained from marijuana.

The drug is manufactured by GW Pharmaceuticals Plc.'s and will be used for spasticity in the patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.

The revelation was made by the Company on Monday .The medicine will be marketed in Britain by the Company's licensee, Bayer AG.

A 10 ml vial would cost National Health Service (NHS) a sum of 125 Pounds. The medicine would last for 11 days for an average patient. This medicine is put under the tongue as it is in the form of a spray.

Last week, the authorities had given a nod to the medicine and it will now be launched throughout the country. The Company will get a landmark sum of 10 million pounds from Bayer, as officials of the country have given their consent.

The Company is about to launch its medicine in Spain after getting a nod from the Spanish authorities. The Company has also got a green signal from many other European countries.
