Producer of ‘Watchmen’ Film Speaks Out

Lloyd Levin, the producer of 'Watchmen', the film produced by Warner Bros., but whose distribution rights a court has awarded to Fox, as well, has taken the battle online by posting an open letter on the issue.

In his letter, Levin gives a tongue-lashing to Fox for initiating a lawsuit over a script, Fox executives gave the thumbs down to in 2005, calling it '….. the most unintelligible pieces of s--- they had read in years'. Further, Levin lauds Warner Bros. for taking on the challenge of a 150-page script rating a 'hard' R for violence, a north looking $100-million budget, and no known stars. Levin challenges Fox's claim over something, they could have had, but not only ignored it, they showed not interest nor supported it, till Warner produced the film.

In response to Levin's letter, Fox defended going to court over the issue, stating Warner Bros were notified of their rights in the project months before the film went into production. However, Warner chose to ignore Fox's rights and it was only after they deliberately ignored their rights that Fox took to litigation for recognition of its' rights.

On 20th January, both Fox and Warner Bros. return to court to work out solutions and decide whether to go ahead with the scheduled release of 'Watchmen' on 6th March.
