Obama's foreclosure initiative proves futile

There are signs that show the foreclosure initiative program started by the Obama administration has failed to click. Data released by the government just strengthens this view a bit more.

It showed that very few homeowners actually registered themselves for the program and many more are losing their mortgage aid.

The effort also known as Making Home Affordable saw the slowest pace of enrollments in May, if the figures are to be believed. Since the starting of the program as many as 340,000 homeowners had used the benefits.

But since the authorities tightened the qualification process, the numbers have gone down considerably.

Also, the trend is such that the early entrants are also finding it quite tough to move from one level to another, thus making it hard to access the services.

As per the Treasury Department data, 436,000 who could have made it to the list failed to do so while 100,000 borrowers lost their mortgage aid during May.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration said that Making Home Affordable is just one of the steps taken by the government and that there are other programs as well.
