Three years after its launch in the U.S in October 2007, Microsoft has declared the availability of its brand new health and wellness HealthVault Cloud platform in the UK.
The new platform has been designed to permit organizations to create applications that let individuals examine various facets of their physiological performance. It is based on user-supplied data such as body mass index, heart rate and blood pressure.
"HealthVault is aimed at the 13 % of the UK population who are actively engaged in monitoring their wellness and we wanted the right kind of data store", said Dave Coplin, Microsoft's National Technology Officer.
Individuals are given power to look over the data by indicating, which applications and organizations have access privileges. It can also check who has accessed the data. This fundamental system also uses XML schemas to offer this control.
Microsoft has negotiated with Nuffield Health on applications in the U.K and expects to talk to groups such as the British Diabetic Association and the British Heart Foundation to create monitoring apps.
Software development kit is also offered by Microsoft for developers based on Microsoft's Net platform. Coplin has also said that HealthVault had a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) accessible on CodePlex and Microsoft's open-source repository, which will let the coders to create on languages including Python and PHP.
