Strong sales support Adobe's 18% jump in Q2 profit

Graphics software company, Adobe Systems Inc. said that it has reported a 18 per cent jump in its second quarter profit for the current fiscal year.

Strong sales figures shown by its Creative Suite 5 product has been the major driver. It is the flagship product of the company and is used in the media production industry.

Buoyed by the figures, Adobe also forecasted a good earning season in the third quarter as well. It said that it expects the earnings to rise from 46 cents to 50 cents per share pushing up the revenue from $950 million to $1 billion.

Analysts also predict good earnings which they say would lie between 48-50 cents. Their expectations are pushed up because of the fact that Adobe has been doing well in selling its Photoshop and Illustrator products. Also its CS5, which came out only in April, has been able to grab a significant market share.

On the long term prospect, Adobe says that it expects to earn $5 billion in sales for the fiscal year 2012. The good news for the company is that its new line of products are doing better than the old ones.
