New MS Drug Welcomed

A West Berkshire multiple sclerosis (MS) group has appreciated the licensing of a revolutionary cannabis-based drug. The new drug will be sold by Bayer, a Company based in Newbury.

The drug will be used only through prescription and will come in the form of a mouth-spray and is called Sativex. This is the first ever medicine that uses whole plant extracts from cannabis sativa leaves. It has also received approval for sale in the UK market.

John Holt, Chairman of the Newbury and District branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society was very happy with this news and he felt that it has been known for a long time that some ingredients in cannabis are known to help people suffering from MS. It can relieve pain, muscle cramps and other problems faced by people suffering from this disease.

His wife also suffers from MS and he feels now people have a legally prescribed medicine, which they can use for treatment. He felt that people, who were earlier taking cannabis for their condition, will also gain significantly with this medicine.

Health experts are also very happy with this news and feel that this will help a lot of people suffering from MS to improve their condition. Some feel that the launch of this medicine is an important milestone for people suffering from MS.
