Hospital and City Strike Accord over Using Parking Lots

That now-empty parking lot, which is situated next to the closed St. Joseph's Health Centre on Paris Street, will not remain empty any longer.

The City of Greater Sudbury has come to an accord with Sudbury Regional Hospital to permit to hospital personnel to make use of the parking lot to help address some of the parking problems that the hospital is facing.

Parking has long been recognized as an issue of worry for hospital staff and it made sense from a partnership perspective to help out, said Doug Nadorozny, the city's Chief Administrative Officer, in a release on Friday.

He said that, “We are predominantly pleased that the accord enables us to return the use of one of our parking lots to users of Bell Park”.

Under the terms and conditions of the concord, which goes into effect on Wednesday, hospital employees will be able to use the parking lot on the previous St. Joseph's Health Centre site for single year, and the north parking lot on York Street for almost two years.

The hospital is supposed to take the charge of the maintenance of the two parking lots.

But, hospital workforce will no longer be able to use the south parking lot on York Street, as it will be proposed for users of Bell Park.
