Baby Girl Killed By a Falling Branch in Central Zoo

A falling tree branch at New York’s Central Park Zoo killed a 6- month old baby. The mother of the baby was also injured. The baby and the mother, both were posing for a picture in front of the sea lion exhibit. The woman and her baby were admitted in the New York- Presbyterian center.

The doctors declared that the mother was in a stable condition and that she would survive. The name of the six months old baby girl was Gianna Ricciutti.

Max Pulsinelli, a Spokesman for the Wildlife Conservation Society did not comment about the accident, however, it issued a statement expressing condolences.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family”, he said.

This is the second unfortunate incident caused by a tree branch at the Central park. In February, a 46 years old man was killed by the falling of a branch.

According to the witnesses, the baby was killed on the spot only, as she did not cry, when hit by the branch.

The family had come from New Jersey to visit the Zoo. At the time of the incident, the father of the baby was taking the picture, thus, he was in the other direction.
