BBC has proclaimed of release the latest edition of the iPlayer for the Playstation 3 in the near future. However no official date has come up as to when the BBC’s catch up service will be updated, but according to a BBC representative the rollout of the new version will be taking place before the end of the year.

It is further stated that the newest version has been pumped in with all new features, such as the application called “For You”.

It supposedly is a column that directs the user to programming they may be interested in, based to the user’s viewing history.

The industry watchers claim the iPlayer to be the third generation iPlayer that has social networking integration; however it remains under wraps whether this function will be enabled on the PS3 edition.
