Researchers have discovered that the oil from tea tree can be used as a safe and effective cure for non-melanoma cancers. The results of the study were published online in the journal, Cancer Chemotherapy Pharmacology.

The study was conducted in The University of Western Australia.

Study shows that a unique formulation of tea tree oil prevents skin tumors from growing any further in mice.

Throughout the world Australia has maximum occurrence of skin cancer with every year around 430,000 people getting treatment for melanoma skin cancer.

Dr. Sara Greay, a Research Associate, revealed that though the treatment is a step forward in the in the battle against skin cancer, people should not try this oil on their skin, as of now.

She said the researchers are not suggesting that tea tree oil should be tried on skin as they have devised a special formulation for the cure of cancer.

This formulation is made in order to prevent the oil from evaporating. The researchers have ensured that the oil penetrates the skin for an anti cancer effect.

However, they are optimistic that the oil could be a source of economical and secure treatment.
