Official Figures Highlight More Women Getting Educated

These days, an increasing number of women are becoming carrier conscious and therefore, they are getting married at a later age. For the first time, more women are going to colleges as compared to men.

Also, more number of toddlers are going to the nurseries as their mothers are going to work.

According to 40th annual Social Trends report, 2.25million couples live together, as the youngsters think that marriage is no longer fashionable. The report was published on Friday by the Office for National Statistics.

The report also states that half of the babies are now born out of wedlock. The average age of first marriage has become 29.8 now. In the year 1970, this age was 29.4. Also, the current average age of first child birth is 27.5 as compared to 23.9, previously.

The number of girls going in for higher education has increased from 33% in 1970 to 57%, at present. The number of college going women has increased up to seven times as compared to 1970-71.

The number of three and four year olds, who are going for early education, has also amplified. It was 63% in 2008-09, whereas in the year 1970-71, it was 21%.
