Report Reveals Soaring Rates Of Childhood Obesity In The U.S.

Research reveals that a growing number of children in the U. S. are becoming obese.

The report is named "F as in Fat: How Obesity Threatens America's Future 2010". It depicts that kids in America are becoming overweight and this is a disturbing trend. However, the guardians of the children ignore this and this makes the situation all the more worse.

The research was carried by Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It reveals that 84% of the surveyed parents believed that their children are healthy, but actually they were obese.

African American comprised the majority who refuted their children's obese condition. Also, obese parents were around 50 % more likely to bear obese children, as compared to their healthy counterparts.

Moreover, the parents who underrated the weight of their children were more prone to have overweight kids. The study also highlighted that the Southern states were worst offenders. These states depicted soaring childhood obesity with the maximum number of overweight kids throughout the nation.

The study disclosed that states which had the highest impact of obesity were Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee, while the least number of cases were reported in Oregon
