Since the release of Apple's iPhone 4, iPhone 3G is the mobile handset that was most recycled in the UK in June, a recycling comparison website, Sell My Mobile has revealed. It has been found that thousands of people have been trading in their old phones for up to £170 in cash, so that they can purchase the upgraded one.
The site reported that 8GB and 16GB iPhone 3G models, along with the 16GB version of the 3GS were the handsets that were the most recycled in June. Others in the cue were the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.
The average price offered for these unwanted handsets was £77.75, while some phones were being sold through Sell My Mobile for up to £225. With users losing up to £132, if they didn't look for the best recycling price, they warned that there was a huge difference for some sites.
As per apple figures, the Company had sold over 1.7 million iPhone 4 handsets in just first three days of the gadget being made accessible. This sale has made it the most flourishing launches ever seen by the Company.
The phone's poor reception, caused when the phone's left hand covers the antenna points on the side, is being complained by some. Apple has owned up to the fault, but says that it's a concern with the software, which erroneously displays the number of bars for signal strength.
