Ford launches the redesigned Taurus sedan

One of the most-popular nameplates of Ford Motors, Taurus, has had a makeover, thanks to its extensive redesigning! The car's designer Moray Callum has wonderfully spruced up the much-esteemed Taurus, and the company launched the revamped full-size sedan - the new 2010 Taurus - on Sunday.

The original Taurus model, introduced in 1986, was the top-selling car in the US during its initial run for two decades. In 2006, gave the name to the Ford 500 sedan, with the company announcing the key launch of the new Taurus last year.

About his redesigned version of Taurus, Callum said: "I was charged with putting Taurus back on top. This is Ford's new flagship - it's not a family car, but an aspirational car, built with craftsmanship and good design."

Equipped with a V-6 engine, the 3.5-liter Duratec, the 2010 Taurus offers the choice of two six-speed automatic transmissions. In addition, the company plans to provide an EcoBoost engine option in the car, so as to improve fuel economy up to 20 percent.

Keeping up with the trend of the future, the new Taurus supports an edition of Ford's three-bar grille, influenced by the trapezoidal face of Europe Ford models. With 3D virtual modeling, the car has been given a cockpit feel, with a raised console and dual binnacle gauges

According to industry consultant, Erich Merkle, "What I like about the Taurus is that it looks outstanding for one, it is a big departure from where they were. No one will even recognize it as the same vehicle."
