With Minister Lim Boon Heng as the Guest-of-Honour, A 2,300-PERSON mass Tai Chi display has marked the launch of the 13-step 'Tai Chi for All' by the seniors for Physical Activity Committee on Saturday morning. This event is said to have broken records for the biggest-ever mass Tai Chi display in Singapore.
Incorporating moves from each of Singapore's five Tai Chi associations into a harmonious flow, the Singapore Wushu Dragon and Lion Dance Federation has specifically developed a basic 13-step Tai Chi style, 'Tai Chi for All'.
In his capability as President of the SWDLDF, Mr. Ang Mong Seng, MP, heads the working committee on taichi@SPA.
"The Tai Chi for All is an easy and accessible form of Tai Chi for seniors. We hope more will become interested in this exercise, and as Tai Chi is practiced in groups, we hope that more seniors will also make friends through Tai Chi", he says.
Having noted that there are some 20,000 seniors in Singapore who practices Tai Chi regularly, Mr. Heng Chee How, Minister of Stat and Chairman of SPA says that he hopes that through this event, more and more seniors would become aware of the benefits of exercising, principally of the health benefits of practicing Tai Chi.
