FDA to Scrutinize First of 3 Experimental Anti-Obesity Drugs

FDA is all set to assess the effectiveness of the first drug in the range of three experimental drugs aimed at reducing obesity.

All eyes are now set on the new drug as nearly all other drugs meant to reduce weight have nearly failed. The latest one is expected to reduce the weight in obese people without potentially leaving any side effects.

As the obesity rates in America have topped 35% among the adults, not only the authorities, but the adults themselves are concerned, seeking the introduction of any effective measure.

So far, none of the drugs in the range has marked any change in research. The drugmakers have not yet been able to prove their worth in knowing the basic causes of excessive eating.

Two of the three drugs seeking the FDA’s approval are the combinations of anticonvulsant and amphetamine drugs. However, they do bear some side effects

The third one is relatively new and carries lesser side effects, but at the same time it is less effective.

For all the weight loss drugs, the scientists have remained concerned, due to the heavy side effects.
