Popular video sharing site, YouTube has said that it has upgraded the mobile version of the site so it can be available to users in a touch friendly way. Mobile YouTube gets a 100 Million plays per day and is the leading video sharing site on the mobile web space.
YouTube will also offer high quality video playback through HTML5. The YouTube mobile site supports H.264 playback by default instead of WebM. The users will also be able to make the site an application on their phone by adding it as their device icon from Mobile Safari.
According to a report the whole mobile YouTube site has been modified for the small screen. The upgrade also involves better libraries and enhanced search results.
The users can also bookmark the videos and the site has been specifically launched for the small screen handsets. The upgraded site now offers large touch screen-friendly button icons.
The Video library is much easier to navigate and search box also suggest results as the users type in. A new 'favourites' and the new "like" rating buttons has also been added to the site.
