Researchers Not Sure About Link between Cancer and Stress

Researchers have not been able to establish a connection between stress and cancer.

Head information Nurse at Cancer Research UK, Martin Ledwick, revealed that more studies are needed to prove that there is a link between them.

His views came in the wake of an article that stated that active social life is beneficial in dealing with cancer. The study was published in the journal named Cell.

It was headed by Matthew During of the Ohio State University.

The study revealed that the researchers discovered that when the laboratory mice are given socially bigger surroundings, their tumors either reduce in size or vanished.

Matthew During disclosed that medical practitioners consider brain reactions and the way of living life, as a 'soft area' of programs focusing on cancer care.

However, Mr. Ledwick is skeptical whether the results of the study are applicable to human beings as well.

He added that they are of the view that the cancer sufferers should be provided adequate emotional backing, so that they are able to cope up with the disease.

Earlier, it was thought that stress damages the health considerably. But, a recent research has revealed that a certain level of stress makes the immune system strong.
