The Meals on Wheels requires several volunteers to assist in the operations of the organization.
The group presently provides food to around 50 people in a day. However, due to the recent cut in finances, it is finding tough to function.
Shinn of College Park works in the organization from 7am to 11 am. She disclosed that she has been working for the group, since the time she was pregnant, 19 years ago. At that time, she was searching for some hobby classes and she found work in the organization.
Presently, there is also a requirement of a cook coordinator at The Meals on Wheels kitchen. The person will be required to assist in making the list of the cooks, who volunteer for the job and also take care of the time table.
For the delivery of food cooked in the Meals on Wheels kitchen, there is an urgent requirement of volunteer drivers. The drivers will be needed to escort people to hospital appointments and drive the people to social activity.
Lois Alexander of College Park, who works as a driver for Meals on Wheels, said that people at the organization admire his work and are elated to meet him as, at times, they get to see only one person during the day.
