A new study by the researchers from Universities of Montreal, Canada and de Yaounde Cameroun has indicated towards the effectiveness of the cashew seed extract against diabetes.
Pierre Haddad, professor of pharmacology at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Medicine, in his study revealed that cashew seeds extract have effectively stimulated the absorption of blood sugar by muscle cells, among all the extracts tested.
Diabetes is the condition of the body in which body stops or reduces the production of insulin, which in turns increases the blood sugar level. Throughout the world, around 220 million people are suffering from diabetes. Diabetes is also learnt to cause heart or kidney disease.
Cashew tree products are known to be effective against inflammation, high blood sugar.
The study highlights the response of leaves, bark, seeds and apples of the cashew on the insulin.
Pierre S. Haddad said, "Our study validates the traditional use of cashew tree products in diabetes and points to some of its natural components that can serve to create new oral therapies".
