The performances of public hospitals will now be compared against national benchmarks, by the new Government's MyHospitals website, which is scheduled for a launch in next month.

Health Minister Nicola Roxon announced the details of the site today revealing that the website will be able to disclose the performance of Australia's hospital system. Gillard Government, which is trying hard to deliver better health and hospital services for the diligent Australians and MyHospitals will provide extraordinary transparency.

Hospitals of all the states and territories will be covered by the website, except those of Western Australia. It will make public, the hospitals which are performing well. In addition, it was also aimed to disclose that which particular hospitals needed to raise their performance.

Last year, a similar website was launched to compare performances of individual schools, under the name 'MySchool'. Though, the site was flooded by parents but it was badly criticized by teachers unions.

Western Australia can sign up to the MyHospitals website, as per Ms. Roxon's office confirmation.

Though, Western Australia was also asked to join, as per the claims of the Government, but it didn't accept the invitation. This way, people can easily check individual hospital performances, as compared to national averages for elective surgery and emergency care.
