BP engineers were given the task to plug in the damaged wells of the Gulf of Mexico. On Sunday, the U. S. Government's top oil spill official stated that the leakage has been detected on the ocean floor by the engineers of BP. It showed that the capping of the wells, from where the oil came out, was not done properly.
BP Chief Managing Director Bob Dudley was released a letter by the U. S official in charge of cleaning up the oil spill, Thad Allen, stating that an undesirable and unspecified seepage had been found 1.6 km deep that could cast detrimental results. He wanted a quick action from BP's officials to open the choke valve without harming the well. But there was no response from BP's side.
The task pressure tests on well was given to BP to judge its ability to handle the process of capping the damaged wells.
The officials of BP hoped that till the relief well gets completed in the August, it's better to keep the damaged well closed.
The scientists have got worried after the pressure readings from within the well. It could spread over the undersea bedrock.
On Thursday, the oil flow was capped and its further testing is also going on since then.
The oil spill at Gulf of Mexico has caused havoc for the inhabitants and for the Government as well. BP struck a deal of $3.5bn to clean up the oil spread and cap the damaged wells.
