Parents of New Born Babies Are Sleep Deprived

A recent survey has revealed that parents have to forego their sleep equivalent to six months in the initial two years of their child’s birth.

The survey is based on the responses received from 1,000 parents. These parents have told that they are able to sleep only for four hours at night in the first two years of child’s birth. Two out of three also said that they could sleep only for three hours at night.

The survey was published in the Daily Express on Friday.

According to Iftikhar Mirza, a sleep expert, a minimum of five hours sleep is required for everyone and that should be uninterrupted. Sleeping in shifts does not fulfill the requirement of the body.

This lack of sleep among parents often results in the mood swings, arguments and depression. In many cases, this sleep deprivation leads to the failure of the relationship.

Nearly, 64% of parents with newly born babies sleep only two to three hours in the twenty four hours.

The survey was conducted on the occasion of National Love Your Bed Week.
