BCS Reveals Guidelines for Heart Troubled Patients Fliers

British Cardiovascular Society released its Fitness to Fly guidelines which contains directions for the heart patients while they travel by air.

In these guidelines, very few heart troubles restrain the patients from flying. The report has been formed by the group that was formed in the year 2008 by BCS.

The team was headed by Dr. David Smith, a Consultant Cardiologist, Royal Devon and Exeter Foundation Trust and also had representatives from Airlines, Aviation authorities and cardiology experts from other institutes.

The report covers detailed information regarding the precautionary measures that patient passengers should take into account while flying. It directs the patients to comply with the instructions given by the doctor and inform the airline of any heart related trouble that they have beforehand.

The earlier guidelines alarmed the patients of heart attacks and lung failures because of deep-vein thrombosis.

This time the guidelines are more positive as compared to the older ones as it has cited very less heart troubles that do not permit the patients to fly. The patients who lately have had heart attacks have been instructed to travel after making sure that they had all their medications, recommend the guidelines.

David Smith said that the cabin environment is not a harmful thing for the heart patients as it all depends on the level of stability associated with the condition of the patient.
