Lawyer For Winehouse’s Husband Files Divorce Papers

A lawyer for Amy Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who is currently serving a jail sentence, says he has been instructed by his client to commence divorce proceedings on grounds of the soul diva's adultery.

In May 2007, Winehouse and Fielder-Civil got married in Miami, only to have Fielder-Civil arrested six months later for assault and sentenced to 27-months in jail. Fielder-Civil, serving time in jail for beating up a bar manager, then trying to bribe him to keep quiet about the matter, was released into a drug rehab centre in November. Barely weeks later, he was sent back to prison for breaching his bail conditions.

Winehouse, whose personal fortunes stand at £10-million ($15-million), shot to fame in 2006, with her multi-Grammy-winning album 'Back to Black' in 2006. Talented though she is, drug use, run-ins with the law and her tempestuous marriage, seem to overshadow her music. Fielder-Civil, in separate interviews with British newspaper News of the World says, he blames himself for his wife's drug problems, who had to be hospitalized several times last year. However, Winehouse, 25, says she is off drugs now, only in love with a 21-year-old man she met on vacation in St. Lucia.

Even though, Winehouse has been exhorting fans at concerts appearances to ask for her husband to be released from jail, tabloid reports have been linking her to other men, only recently she was photographed holidaying in the Caribbean with new beau, Josh Bowman.

No spokesperson for Winehouse has returned calls seeking comments on the divorce.
