The U. S. currency rates have been fixed at Rs. 46.86 for every one dollar by the Reserve Bank of India on Monday. On the other hand, the single European currency unit has been fixed at Rs. 60.64 for every one euro. Earlier, the respective rates were Rs. 47.00 for every one dollar and Rs. 60.53 for every one euro, as on last Friday.
The RBI also issued at a press release that the respective currency exchange rates of the English pound and Japanese yen against the Indian rupee have been fixed at Rs. 72.5205 for every one pound and Rs. 53.59 for every 100 yen, based on the rate of reference of the U. S. dollar and the in-between rates of the cross currency quotations at midday 12 noon.
This reference rate is based on the 12 noon rates, which are applicable only to select banks in Mumbai. Plus, the SDR-Rupee rate is slated to be based on this 12 noon rate as well, as mentioned at the press release by the RBI.
