Google Declares New Version of Apps for the Government

According to a recent report, Google has declared Google Apps for the Government. This application is a productivity suit, which has got the certification from the Government of America.

The revelation was made at the press event at its headquarters. The state and the local Government can also avail the new application.

This version also includes the main apps like Calendar, Gmail, Sites, Postini and video. Moreover, it is available at the same price as the earlier version.

This application is also certified for use by FISMA in case of sensitive information; however, it should not be classified. FISMA is a certification issued by the Federal Government.

The search giant has disclosed that Gmail and Google Calendar used by the Government would be stored in separate servers.

Meanwhile, Google was instructed to switch the City of Los Angeles' e-mail system to Gmail. Presently, it uses the Novell Groupwise e-mail platform. But, Google had failed to abide by the deadline, which was June 30.

L.A. Times has disclosed that Maggie Goodrich, the LAPD CIO, has said that Google has not followed the security conditions of the Police department.

She expressed her views at the meeting of the City Council Members.
