Nurse Found Guilty of Having Sex with Critically-Ill Patient

A nurse working for Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust since 2006 is reported to have been dismissed from her duties following revelations of her having intimate relationship with a patient waiting for a heart and lung transplant in the hospital.

It has been unveiled that Rebecca Bayliss, 29, of Walsall, West Mids had sex with the ill man.

The woman first saw the critically ill man in 2008 in her ward where he was admitted for a cystic fibrosis treatment while waiting for his turn as he was put on the waiting list.

The duo initiated with their three-month sexual relationship, immediately following the man’s discharge and it continued even after the man had to return to the hospital for his operation.

The man was scheduled to undergo a critical operation at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.

The man, reported to be identified as ‘Patient A’, claimed the investigators that their relationship made his recovery very difficult.

Workmates have revealed that Bayliss often mocked that she had to turn up his oxygen before having sex with him. In addition, the nurse had also posted about her affair on her Facebook account.

Nursing and Midwifery Council today held the nurse guilty of having sex with the patient.
