According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is planning to unveil something new in the social game market as it’s involved in the talks with Playdom and Playfish. Playdom and Playfish are the units of Disney and Electronics Arts, respectively.
TechCrunch has also revealed that Google made an investment of between $100 and $200 in Zynga, Farmville maker.
Google Chief Executive, Eric Schmidt has said that the Google game would be very different from Facebook, Playdom and Playfish, as bringing the same thing to the market does not make any sense.
According to experts, Google may go for negotiations with some small game makers, as all the popular games today were small at one point of time.
It is also expected that Google is planning to start a social gaming for its service Google Me. If true, the site would definitely give a tough competition to existing social networking services like Facebook. Approximately, 60 million users in a month are actively involved in playing Farmville on Facebook.
“For social-game developers, a successful Google offering would mean they wouldn't be so heavily dependent on Facebook, where the vast majority of users access the games”, said Amir Efrati from Wall Street Journal.
He said that users are increasingly using these social games.
