‘Art- A- Loos’ Launched To Support Crohn's Disease Sufferers

The stigma attached to Crohn’s disease is immense and thus, people suffering from the same often remain silent and go through the agony for many years.

In New Zealand alone, about 15,000 people suffer from Crohn’s disease, and to counter the situation and provide support to the victims of this dreadful disease, a new national body has been put in place.

Reports claim that Crohn’s and Colitis New Zealand was introduced in the Parliament and prominent MP’s and as many as 100 members of the organization and supporters were present at the launch.

Extending support and increasing the awareness against Crohn’s disease are the main aims of the newly launched Crohn's and Colitis NZ.

Further, to lay more emphasis on the cause, ‘art-a-loos’ were also launched in central Wellington.

With the setting up of the body, toilet phone application for iPhones was also unveiled at the event. The app would use GPS technology, which would facilitate its users for finding the nearest public toilets in towns and cities around New Zealand.

Also, portable loos, which were painted in various themes, were also introduced in Wellington. For now, only four such loos have been unveiled and they are named ‘art-a-loos’.

Appreciating the move and throwing light on the plight of Crohn’s disease sufferers, Kate Linterman, who also suffers from the dreadful disease said, "It's quite stressful to go places not knowing if there is a bathroom available - that's the reality for every colitis and Crohn's sufferer".
