Three Dozen Deserted Dogs Killed

Around 64 deserted dogs have been captured in bad state from a property possessed by Peter and Judy Chernecki in Gull Lake and it has been expected that about three dozen of the captured were killed.

Though the couple had seven weeks to make an appeal, but they didn’t come up with the same. They were alleged by some neighbors that they were feeding their bears for the last 15 years, leaving the dogs unfed.

The animal protection officers had to euthanize some of the dogs, as they were severely ill and were suffering from mental sickness due to their harsh living conditions, as told by Bill McDonald, CEO of the Winnipeg Humane Society.

He further added that when they brought the animals, six of them stopped responding to the human interactions and got rolled up like balls. They left eating and drinking and were on the verge of committing suicide.

For a few days, the 30 leftover dogs would be kept at the WHS itself and in the Rural Municipality of St. Clements and after that, they will be sent to the Society.

RM's council polled to pull down the building earlier this week, in which dogs were sheltering, as it was not safe for their survival.
