Till now, nearly 1900 people have reported swine flu like symptoms in New Zealand. The Emergency Department in the country is trying its best to deal with the problem.
In the last week, numerous people were admitted in the hospital reporting winter illness. However, the number of patients this year is less, as compared with that of last year. Last year, swine flu was noted to be an epidemic.
According to an emergency department’s estimates, nearly two-third of all the patients have been prescribed Tamiflu.
Even in the schools, at least one kid in each class has reported to be ill.
Hospitals and Emergency Departments have reported that there is almost no space for the new cases, as they are already full.
The increasing number of patients has also infected many staff workers in these hospitals and Emergency Departments.
Chris Mansell from Waikato Hospital has said that out of ten patients one was detected with swine flu symptoms. He said that patients, who are obese and pregnant women, may face some complications due to the flu.
Health Ministry has expected that a quarter of the people were affected with swine flu in the last year, therefore, they are immune to the flu, this year.
