Government refrains from intervening in Keshub's reappointment

After Keshub Mahindra, the Chairman of the M&M Group was convicted in the Bhopal gas strategy case, there was a lot of speculation over his reappointment as the Chairman of the conglomerate but the company has selected him for one more term.

Moreover, the government has decided not to intervene in the re-appointment of Keshub by stating the fact that the reappointment of the patriarch has been done after a well though legal consultative process between the company.

It is to be mentioned here that Keshub, who was the non-executive Chairman of Union Gas Turbide was convicted in June this year was convicted for two years for his negligence in the Bhopal gas tragedy case.

The ministry of corporate affairs has recently said that there are legal processes that have to be followed.

While Mahindra and six others were sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Bhopal court but almost all of them are out on bail currently. As far as the reactions from the industry are concerned, people are giving mixed views on the appointment of Keshub as the Chairman of the conglomerate.
