Brisbane can Contribute in Creating Super Foods and Studying Diseases: Research

It has been revealed by Queensland Premier Anna Bligh that according to a new research carried out in Brisbane, the region can contribute in creating super foods and for studying diseases like Hendra virus.

Today, she has officially revealed the $100 million Health and Food Sciences precinct and it will convene CSIRO researchers and 150 states Government.

Ms. Bligh says that in order to combat obesity, heart disease and diabetes, the scientists will start creating foods in the region.

"It puts Queensland on the global map when it comes to research in areas of health, in nutrition and in animal disease and food security", she added.

A project of $100 million dollar, which will be carried out by the joint efforts of CSIRO and Queensland State Government, will cover animal health, human and food sciences in a ‘centre of excellence’.

Federal Cabinet Secretary and Special Minister of State, Senator Joe, Queensland Primary Industries Minister, Tim Mulherin and Premier Anna Bligh have officially opened the new centre today.

A variety of projects will be included in the research, which will carried at the precinct and its main concern is to maintain good reputation of Australia, when it comes to delivering clean, safe and high quality animal and food products.
