Yandex, the Russian search engine edged out Google in the Russian market, when Mozilla decided to axe Google from its Firefox browsers for Russian language, in favor of the Russian search engine. It's really a big victory for Yandex, which will soon be the default search provider for the Russian version of Firefox 3.1.

According to Mozilla General Counsel, Harvey Anderson, the move is result of a research conducted by the company, which came, "to the conclusion that our Russian users really wanted direct access to the Yandex search services in official Firefox RU builds. Consequently, the company is planning to set Yandex as the default search provider for the Russian version of Firefox 3.1, and these changes are available in the current beta for testing. It means that now, the Firefox Start Page will use Yandex as default search tool.

On the other hand, Google introduced Firefox competitor Chrome. Experts feel that Google-Mozilla relationship could get tensed up with Mozilla's Yandex move and Google's debut of Firefox competitor Chrome.
