Authorities Warn Storm Heading for Melbourne

After a tropical storm struck in the north, authorities have cautioned that the wild weather is now moving towards Melbourne.

Senior forecaster of weather bureau, Kevin Parkyn has said that the storm would be the most significant weather event of Melbourne since March's hailstorm, which caused the damage of thousands of Dollars.

He also said that unlike that storm, rain and wind are expected to cause major damage and also gave important information about the bad weather saying it has been forecasted that the storm might move to Melbourne tonight and this is the main reason that they are warning people and are concerned about the Melbourne area.

Mr. Parkyn notified that there is probability of up to 50mm of rainfall in Melbourne overnight and wind gusts can reach up to 110kmh and if this forecast turns true, we are likely to see broken branches of tree and minor damage to property.

It has been reported that there are some locations, which have significant amounts of rainfall. So far, Otways has had over 100mm.

''Drought has seen some of the trees already weakened and when you soften up the soil with the rainfall we've had, mix it with the strong winds we're going to experience, we will see trees coming down", he added.
