Government Need Not Invest More on Broadband Sector: Americans

As per a survey poll conducted by the Pew Center, the Federal Government wants to increase the broadband connectivity in the country, but the people of America are not in favour of Government’s decision. Americans think that such projects are not much essential.

Despite the fact that 66% of residents of America use Internet connection, the growth in the high-speed connectivity service is shrinking day-by-day. In April and May, when Pew talked to 2,252 English-speaking people on phone, it noticed that as compared to the earlier times, the growth has decreased significantly.

On the other hand, the number of broadband users in African-Americans seems to increase, more than national average rate.

Barrack Obama’s Government has awarded $7.2 billion stimulus package to the broadband sector, thinking that more the people will use Internet connection, brighter will be the chances of improved economic status of the country.

Congress members have demanded revamp of $8 billion financial-backing program to establish phone connectivity in rural parts of the country in order to subsidise the broadband service.

Broadband sector is nowadays going through a rough patch. FCC's study shows that approximately 14-24 million people in the United States still don’t have an access to high-speed Internet connection.
